These BBQ Salmon Steaks only require a handful of ingredients and a few minutes of your time. Simple, delicious and incredible flavors.

Salmon is a heart-healthy food choice! Salmon is rich in omega-3 fatty acids and premium protein. Sockeye salmon have a higher oil content than Coho and Pink salmon. Coho salmon has nearly two times the oil than Pink salmon. If you BBQ salmon I would suggest using a Sockeye or Coho salmon which both have a better flavor than Pink and contain high oils which are better for barbequing.

A minimum of 2 hours before you cook the salmon prepare the marinade and place the salmon steaks in a plastic zip lock bag with the marinade. Place the fish in the refrigerator and let the marinade soak into the steaks.

Barbequing the salmon steaks takes less than 8-10 minutes – 4-5 minutes per side. BBQ should be medium – high heat. Lightly oil the BBQ before placing steaks on to avoid sticking. The marinade contains sugar which will caramelize; however, it will stick to the surface. Start the salmon steaks with skin side up, after 5 minutes flip the salmon steaks with care.

Serve garnished with some green onions and toasted sesame seeds, with a side of rice and Asian slaw.
